Microsoft Project: Build Your First Plan is a practical, instructor-led introduction to Microsoft Project designed for new and occasional users who need to create, organize, and manage project schedules with confidence. During this 4.5-hour course, participants will build a project from the ground up while learning the fundamental tools and concepts that make Microsoft Project work. Rather than simply exploring menus and features, participants will work through the process of creating a project schedule, setting up the project, defining tasks and milestones, organizing the work, establishing dependencies, creating a project timeline, assigning resources, and reviewing the resulting schedule. Participants will also learn how Microsoft Project calculates dates, how task relationships affect the schedule, and how to recognize common scheduling problems before they become project problems. By the end of the course, participants will have created a complete project schedule and will understand the core Microsoft Project skills needed to begin planning and maintaining their own projects. Topics include: Navigating the Microsoft Project interface Creating and configuring a new project Setting project start dates and calendars Entering tasks, durations, and milestones Organizing tasks using summary tasks and subtasks Creating task dependencies Understanding automatic scheduling and date calculations Working with the Gantt Chart Identifying the critical path Creating and assigning resources Reviewing workload and basic resource information Setting a project baseline Updating project progress Viewing and communicating project information Who should attend: Project managers, project coordinators, team leads, supervisors, administrators, and anyone who needs to create or maintain project schedules using Microsoft Project.
